Technical Director

We are in the process of opening up a new stage in Los Angeles  and are looking for a local crew to call upon when the need arises. These gigs have the potential to fall on nights and weekends. Live Bash operates in a fast-paced, live-broadcast environment so the ability to think on your feet is a must. 

We are looking for Technical Directors  to technically execute our clients’ vision through informed camera positioning, camera movement, shot composition, and stage blocking. This role will serve as a critical function within the live production environment and report directly to the Director of Production. 

The Technical Director should possess an excellent understanding of live video production, and will be responsible for the troubleshooting and maintenance of production equipment including, but not limited to: 

  • Blackmagic ATEM switcher / control panel
  • vMix software,
  • Cerevo LiveShell.X encoder
  • AJA KiPro recorder
  • Canon CR-N300 and CR-N500
  • SKAARHOJ PTZ controller

Responsibilities for the Technical Director include:

  • Delivering a dynamic, and  engaging video line-cuts of each performance on the Live Bash stage.
  • Creating custom experiences based on individual client needs. May require quick turnarounds
  • AV file management - to ensure efficient editing between LA and Chicago teams
  • Providing in-depth technical support during programs and events
  • Solving production issues related to camera, signal flow, or rack/control equipment as they occur in the live setting. 
  • Routing and distributing video signals throughout the Live Bash facility.


  • 3+ years experience directing/technical directing programs for live broadcast and/or events, specifically performing arts.
  • 3+ years experience in broadcast engineering, AV systems integration, or similar roles.
  • Experience with both SDI-based and IP-based workflows 

This position will be contracted on a freelance basis, at a rate of $50/hr.
